FLOORING

Prefinished

Hardwood flooring with a factory-applied finish is not only faster and easier to install, but it performs better over time. To produce the highest quality hardwood flooring, stains and finish coatings are applied and dried in a factory-controlled environment. High-performance aluminum oxide urethane coatings are subjected to as many as seven passes of ultraviolet light to cure the urethane to the wood and preserve its color, thus creating an extremely durable finish. By comparison, site-finished floors typically receive only 2-3 coats of polyurethane and then are allowed to cure by air drying.

LVT

LVT, which stands for ‘Luxury Vinyl Tile’, offers a 3D printing technology that adds depth and realism, durability, with a high-performance wear layer to vinyl. LVT offers the option of a less permanent floor than wood or ceramic tile, especially with the growing popularity of floating LVT floors. At Maderas de Importación we are aware of how important it is when you are selecting between a wood or ceramic floor. We understand it will be in your home for a very long time and you should really be in love with it.

Laminate

An inexpensive alternative to real wood, today’s laminate flooring manufacturers offers better quality and dozens of types of wood species. At Maderas de Importación, you can find everything from American icons like oak, hickory, and heartwood pine to exotics such as tigerwood, Prado, and more. Laminate flooring also comes in rustic and antiqued versions in case you want to achieve this look. In addition, we provide you with an extensive portfolio of stone, tile and metal look a likes. In lamina flooring, images are printed and glued to a core of fiberboard backed by a bottom layer that’s treated to prevent moisture damage. It’s all covered by a tough clear top wear layer that resists scratches and dings.

Unfinished

Unfinished hardwood flooring ships from the factory in its natural state. Sanding, staining, and finishing are all done on site after the boards are installed. End and edge treatments are typically limited to "square"

Solid Hardwood

Solid wood is milled usually from a single 3/4" thick piece of hardwood and for thin profile solid hardwood, 5/16″ is the standard. Solid wood flooring expands and contracts with changes in your home's relative humidity. Normally, installers compensate for this movement by leaving an expansion gap between the floor and the wall. Base molding or quarter round is traditionally used to hide the extra space.

Engineered Hardwood

Engineered hardwood core is made up of multiple layers of wood stacked in a cross-grain configuration which minimizes expanding and shrinking. Engineered hardwood provides an advantage over solid hardwood because of the ability to install in multiple areas of the home. Engineered floors are designed for installation over concrete and to help mitigate potential moisture issues.
